For me photography is not a discipline but a way of life. I am interested that within my day to day my work propitiate a space of freedom and play.
Explore everyday objects and fragments of prehispanic pieces allows me to find out more about who I am and where I come from.
All this search starts from intuition and leads me to think of my artistic practice as a ball of plasticine that I hold in my hands, that I knead and transform constantly; or like a chewing gum being chewed.

Jael Orea
(Mexico City, Mexico, 1991) Jael Orea explores photography from various perspective that gradually construct a complex and subtle discourse. In his wanderings around the outskirts of Mexico City, he comes across situations and engages strangers in conversation, building the results into visual and literary narratives. Orea approaches photography as a way of confronting one’s experience of the world, focusing on the notion of the extraordinary and breaking it down into certain concepts that give shape to his work. By deconstructing experience in its elements, he reflects on being as unity and art as a tool for sharing an action generated out of the time spent with the strangers he encounters, out of which he constructs stories in images and words. Orea gather the elements into little artist’s books, unique pieces which he offers to interested purchasers online, in the aim of carrying out an action that may again become a way of generating trust among people not personally known to one another, thereby closing the cycle of the work both conceptually and poetically.
